Shown below is the start to my Assignment 1: Review of digital video technology in interactive media in 2016, steady progress so far but getting off to a good start. got the majority of the first and part of the second section completed. I have also decided which video clips to look at for the assignment brief.
With the rise in popularity of the internet, the usage of digital video has also grown in comparison to television. It is used for many different purposes including: film trailers, e-learning, user-generated content, viral marketing, advertising, VR tours and games. Although, VR (Virtual Reality) tours are the most recent due to the invention and take off of 360 degree videos. Digital video is implemented within many different websites with the main ones being as follows: YouTube, Vimeo and Twitch etc. Also, with the various implementation methods video content can now be played across multiple platforms not just pc’s such as Mobile devices e.g. tablet, phone, Smart TV’s, games consoles and information kiosks. Within this article I will be exploring all of the points mentioned above and comparing the various uses and types of digital video.
What applications take advantage of online video material?
One of the arguably most popular uses for video is within film trailers. The most noticeable difference with film trailers in comparison to other different types of digital video is that they are generally of much higher quality, typical 1920 x 1080p as the main focus is the video content which the directors want the audience to be captivated by how amazing the visuals appear; entice viewers to watch the film upon release.
